Major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen could be next in adjusting their housing policies, according to insiders.

The example of Hangzhou will be quite illuminating to other cities that still have home-buying curbs, said Yan Yuejin, research director of the E-House China Research and Development Institute. The move is very significant, and various regions could kick off an unparalleled wave of policy easing this month, Yan added.
易居研究院研究总监严跃进表示,杭州的例子,对其他城市而言具有非常大的启发。此次政策优化调整意义重大,也意味着5月份开始各地将迎来一波空前大的政策放松潮。
The housing market of the municipality which is home to tech giants Alibaba Group Holding and Netease has underperformed this year. From April 1 to April 27, commercial housing tallied 530,000 square meters, down 46 percent from a month earlier, and such transactions reached 450,000 sqm, a 55 percent slump, according to data from real estate consultancy CRIC.
作为科技巨头阿里巴巴和网易的总部所在地,今年以来杭州楼市表现不佳。据易居克而瑞数据,截至4月27日,4月杭州全市商品房供应面积约53万平方米,环比下跌46%;成交面积45万平方米,环比下跌55%。
Even pre-owned Hangzhou homes were exchanging hands slower as last month, the number of online new registrations of sold houses dropped by 1.8 percent to a bit more than 8,400 units from March, based on data from Beike Research Institute. The average price per sqm was CNY29,069 (USD4,023), down 0.5 percent from a month earlier and a 11.7 percent decline from a year ago.
上个月,杭州二手房的交易速度也有所放缓。根据杭州贝壳研究院数据,4月二手房网签8400多套,比3月下滑1.8%,与上月基本持平。4月住宅网签均价29069元/平方米,比3月均价下滑0.5%,比去年4月下滑11.7%。
As of the time of publication, Xi’an followed Hangzhou today in scrapping all restrictions on home purchase.
截至发稿前,西安也宣布取消了所有的购房限制。
